Hello! I graduated this summer in public relation and I need some adivices :) ! first of all, sorry for my english, I'm Italian..but I'm going to take some english class at british council this year, hopefully it will improve.
I'd like to apply for the 'fashion journalism and lifestyle" PG certificate at LCF next year, but I'm also searching for other similar certificates that doesn't necesseraly require a 7.5 IELTS for English. Does anyone know it there are any other 5/6 months certificates in fashion like: fashion stylism, fashion journalism, cool hunting that I could apply for in England? I would be extremly grateful if someone could help me..I'm searching on ucas but it seems that it's only for undergraduate and I already did 3 years here in Italy. :)
thank you!!

Hi everyone,
I've looked in all my usual online and physical haunts for this, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know a place where I can find (if it's in Belgium I can go to the store, otherwise I'll need mail order options) faux wolf fur? It really has to be wolf.
Thanks!

| Need recommendations for fashion programs |
[08 Oct 2006|08:21pm] |
I've been scouring the internet for what I'm looking for, but to no avail. I am located in western Massachusetts and am looking for an online or summer program for fashion design/ pattern making/ garment construction. So far I've found the summer program as RISD, etelestia.com, and academy of art in San Francisco. None of these is acceptable to my husband, who runs the finances (& is extremely picky about how I spend money - it was a battle to just get a dress form! But I digress...)
Does anyone know of reputable certificate/diploma/degree programs I can complete over my summers or online?
(x-posted - sorry for the annoyance)

Anyone recommend any good books on using/coloring with markers?
Parsons is a pretty traditional school in the sense that it bashes your head about using gouache paints the first year of fashion. But now the teachers are a bit more relaxed and are letting kids use markers for their sketches, which is the industry standard.
So can anyone recommend any good books on learning how to use markers? I checked amazon, and one of the ones that was recommended IS IN BLACK AND WHITE. That sounds so stupid and useless to me.
Also, anyone have a preference on types of markers? I know the two big ones are prismacolor and copic.

I'm thinking about getting a Singer serger (overlock machine) soon, but I'd like to hear opinions about those first because I spend 500 euros on one. So if you have a Singer serger (or have experiences in using one), which type do you have? And how do you like it? If you have a good serger of another brand, do tell me, I'm open to other options than Singer as long as they're in the same price range :)
x-posted, sorry about that

hi everyone, i am a fashion journalism student in london, and my course plans to send me somewhere for work experience during my second year.
so my question is: has anyone got a room for me, circa april-may 2007 for about a month and a half? in either new york, los angeles, milan or somewhere in australia. i can offer my room in london for a month and a half, for the same period or for summer 2007, as an exchange..

Hi everyone, I'm new here. It took me so long to find a place for me to talk about what little of the year I have left.
I just recently got back into drawing, and have made my drawing style a traditional croqui style.

I've noticed that on all my presentation boards that I've made for classes, I'm extremely close to a perfect score. The only thing that brings me down is that the instructor can see glue stains on my boards.
any tips on how to clean it off? or what's a good glue to use? i've tried spray glue, but it smears ink (or maybe that's just me?)
any help would be great!!!

Okay, since I last updated, I think I have decided on a college for me: International Academy of Design and Technology - Orlando.
I can't really decide if I want to major in Fashion Design or Fashion Merchandising, and IADT has both in one course. I went to open house today and if I decide to go (most likely) I will start in October.
Has anyone gone there or heard anything about it? It looked and sounded nice, but college is a buisness and there could be more that they aren't telling us.

Does anyone know of community colleges with Fashion Merchandising programs in the Los Angeles Area or Florida? I'd perfer to go out of state (I live in Florida). After the community college, I plan to transfer to a four-year to save money.

Hey everyone, I could reallllllllly use your help!!! I've never posted in this community before but it's absolutely perfect for what I need. Right now I'm looking to go for fashion design and my top choice is FIT for various reasons. However, I'm engaged right now and by the time I'll be able to go to school we'll be married and therefore on a tight budget and probably not in NYC. Right now it's looking like we may end up in Dallas. What do you suggest I do? What are the best schools to look at for quality/price/location? Any info you have would be infinately appreciated. THANK YOU!!! -Heather
